""One of the biggest reasons I took this job was to have a positive influence on the future and the health of curling in China,"" says Rocque, who was brought to China as a head coach in 2013 and led the Chinese men' s team to the fourth place in 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
Rocque retired from curling in 2011 and became a culinary teacher at his local high school in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This year Rocque invited the Chinese curling teams to his hometown to show them his daily life.
""I wanted to show them my life a little bit just like they did with me in Harbin. It was fantastic; you have to realize that any team sport requires trust. That is created off the ice. Once you have their trust off the ice then it transforms to a trust on the ice."" says Rocque.
Rocque hopes that he can provide a mentoring service in China to continue growing the sport in China. He says the athletes he has coached are great.
""These 15 athletes that I' ve worked with will be the future mentors of the sport of curling in China. My hope is that I gave them enough knowledge and wisdom so that they can continue to impact the sport in China,"" says Rocque.
Rocque also hopes that the growth of curling can continue in China. ""It takes time. Infrastructure is a big part of it and whether or not people can just use the facilities. BANGKOK, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's former premier Yingluck Shinawatra has to show up in court if she wants to lodge an appeal to Wednesday's court verdict which sentenced her to five years in jail, said Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) President Meechai Ruchuphan on Thursday.
Under a new legislation on criminal lawsuits against politicians, which will be effective on Thursday, all defendants, including those who may already have been given court verdicts, are obliged to appear in court by themselves to file an appeal to previous court rulings, said Meechai.
