"Within the next five years, the province aims to compile a database of the genetic diversity of it's more than 1,300 wild pandas," said Gu Xiaodong from the provincial forestry department.
So far the database includes genetic profiles of over 300 wild pandas, the authority announced Monday.
The project

Researchers monitor panda habitats noting the common feeding and mating routes, distribution of eaten bamboo, footprints and feces, collecting information to build a genetic profile.

BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhua) -- China published on Monday the first full report on its development in Antarctica over the past three decades, titled "China's Antarctic Activities."
China has established a national Antarctic observation network and a basic exploration and scientific research system consisting of government departments, research institutes and universities, said the report by China's State Oceanic Administration.

ROME, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Rising Chinese tourism to Italy and Europe is the subject of the 160th issue of Mondo Cinese (Chinese World) journal, the Italy-China Foundation has said.
Founded in 1973, Mondo Cinese is Italy's only scientific journal dedicated to studying contemporary China.
