This does not make them less Aramaeans in any sense. The Christians in Syria still speak Aramaic which is also the language of their holy scriptures. Apart from the Kurmanji (falsely nad 'Kurdi') minority and so other minor ethnic groups (notably the Turkns, the Circassians, the Arnians, etc.), all Syrians, Muslims or Christians, are Aramaeans.
